Measuring of overhaul performance at the Combined Heat and Power Station

The Moabit Combined Heat and Power Station features a 100 MW coal fired Circulating Fluidised Bed Combustion unit. This CFBC unit was commissioned in 1989.

The three-casing extraction condensation turbine with 8-stage feedwater heating is designed for max. 100 MWe. It provides 81 MWe at 136 MWth district heat which is extracted from the IP turbine via two heat condensers and one heat exchanger.

The whole unit was overhauled between 2007 and 2008. As the first part, the steam turbine was to be overhauled and modernised and the contract was awarded to a non-OEM.

VPC acted as consultant for quality assurance. As part of this work, VPC performed the measurements before and after the overhaul of the water-steam-cycle (excl. boiler), the generator and the district heat extraction.
