Pre- performance tests at Maritza East III Power Station, Bulgaria

A consortium lead by DSD was the EPC contractor for the rehabilitation and environmental retrofit of the 840 MW lignite-fired Maritza East III power plant.

In order to determine the initial status of the units for the later modernization of boilers and turbines and the erection of flue gas desulphurization plants, energetic measurements on all four units were performed.

Due to the short time available and the enormous amount of measurement equipment, VPC involved a partner company who measured units I and III whereas VPC measured unit II and IV almost simultaneously from the beginning of October to November 2002. In spite of the enormous time pressure and the complex task, the measurements were completed on schedule.

The following tests were performed:
