Boxberg Power Station Unit R (1 x 675 MW, new-build project), Germany

Project:

Boxberg Power Station is an existing lignite-fired mine-mouth power plant with two older 500 MW twin boiler units and one 900 MW single boiler unit built in the 1990s. In 2005 Vattenfall decided to add a new 675 MW lignite-fired Unit R including sophisticated primary DeNOx measures and a wet, limestone forced oxidation FGD. As the other three units, Unit R also discharges its flue gas via its natural draft hyperbolic cooling tower. The construction of the power plant was subdivided into over 50 lots, for which VPC provided the general planning, detail engineering, technical tender specification, procurement and construction management. VPC also performed the startup and commissioning services as well as the trial run and performance acceptance testing.

1. General Planning and Permitting
